As per a report of WHO, Odisha is a blood deficit state having a 13% shortfall viz-a-viz the actual requirement norm. This gap further widens during the summer months, when fewer people want to venture out to donate blood. As a result of this, many people who have urgent requirements of blood, have to return empty handed.
Jai Odisha understands the seriousness of this and conducts regular blood donation camps to fill the gap with availability and requirements. Once every fortnight, a blood donation camp is held, at different venues, enabling people to donate blood. Our volunteers also work on spreading awareness and fighting the superstition around blood donation.
Jai Odisha works with major blood banks of the state like the Red Cross Society. We also remind the blood donors every 3 months that a blood donation is due. Since blood cannot be manufactured, Jai Odisha works with the aim of replenishing the blood banks so that each and every person who needs it in emergency, is not turned away.
